Creating Impact

Speaking with impact takes practice, focus, and even more practice. Powerful speakers are easy to spot but the skills necessary for being a powerful speaker are hard to master. In this Camp, we’ll practice some of the key skills that help you stand out in your work — from eliminating filler words, to breathing life into data through stories, and delivering a powerful introduction.

Owning the Room

In many lines of work, owning the room (or the Zoom) is a necessary skill. Whether it’s an introductory call or just a casual status call, knowing how to properly set expectations, facilitate conversations, and ask good questions is the difference between productive meetings and could-have-been-an-email bore fests.

Being Human at Work

Whether you’re on a status call or meeting someone for the first time, connecting with them on a human level is the most important step. To do this, you’ll need to master your personal brand, be aware of your emotions—and the emotions of others—and be prepared to flex your communication style in order to speak to others the way they want to be spoken to.

Managing Relationships

Have you ever tried having a productive conversation with an upset person with no plan and no techniques for getting the conversation on track? Yikes. The relationships we foster with our customers and colleagues are crucial to our career success, so it’s important to practice some of the skills that will lead to better conversations, less hurt feelings, and more productive meetings.
